In the 70’s America saw all kinds of transformations condensing, in the dying light of the excitement of the 60’s. Pasadena, California saw one such movement: An organization that battled the EVILS OF EATING HEALTHY. No, you didn’t read it wrong. I thought so too at first. It was here, Tom Iacino, a proud member of the same organization, coined the term ‘Couch Potatoes‘. We have all come across one, or many at our place, a friends place, or maybe only heard of one because s(he) never left the couch.
These are few of the types that you will find if you decide to go searching for couch potatoes.
1. Day Dreamer
They are oblivious of their surroundings of the television, the music, the food on the table, the cat on their lap, their best friend ranting beside them, and also of the cat which now has started to chew up the couch.
The dreams in their heads run a house full. They find no reason to exit or let somebody else in. Because THERE ARE NO SEATS!
2. Foodaholic couch potatoes
According to them, to truly enjoy the taste of food, one has to be totally immersed in the experience (of course you can watch TV, duh). They are usually seen enjoying repeated experiences of Cheetos and peanut butter in the comfort of their favourite sofa, staining, spilling, and smudging it in the process. To keep your sofa breathing under such conditions you have to regularly clean your upholstery.
They lay back all day on the couch pondering over the complexities of life, or just staring into the television, munching on crackers and sipping the fruit blast.
Even after they are picked up and are long gone the smell of the green still present on the couch, reminding us of their return. Vacuuming of the sofa upholstery every now and then can prevent your sofa from smelling like the green itself.
They leave a hole in the couch. Binge watching TV shows they forget about time and space and are wandering around in a fantasy world eager to know what happens next. What a bigger need is a good sofa frame and an even good-er foam core.
You have all seen one. The one who goes from sitting upright and reading. Huddled up in a corner of the couch reading, then lying on their stomach, back and later shifting to even more absurd positions as they flip through the pages of the book. A good set of cushions, pillows, and clean nice smelling upholstery adds to this experience.
6. Sleeping Beauties
It’s hard not to fall asleep on a nice couch. An afternoon siesta, with your head propped up on a pillow. The soft light of the evening sun coming in through the blinds. The couch is sure to put any beauty or beast to sleep. Clean Sofa upholstery and a good foam core will surely guarantee you a couple of more hours of sleep.
